Food Storage and a Giveaway

My previous post shows you what I have been doing with food storage. As I said before I wanted to work on my food storage but didn't know where to start. I was feeling so overwhelmed with all the infomation out there, but then I found this wonderful website - Food Storage Made Easy. You have to go check out their site. These two ladies make food storage so easy and doable.

I mentioned that their baby step checklists that come out every two weeks. I love their steps, but I didn't want to wait 2 weeks for the next step. I'm happy to announce that they are releasing all the baby steps for purchase this Thursday in a ebook for Food Storage Made Easy. I guess a bunch of us crazy ladies working on our food storage have been bugging them for the rest of the steps. **wink**

I'm posting this on my blog, because I want to help you get your food storage too. And I want win a copy of this wonderful ebook. Please click this image or the image in my right sidebar to get more information on this MUST HAVE ebook and to find out how you could win it too!

Hey, what are you waiting for? Click it! You won't be dissappointed, and you'll sleep better knowing that your family is well prepared. It's easy, if I can do it anyone can!

Infact, I even went over to my friend's house and spent the day helping her organize her pantry and food storage and showed her this wonderful website too! I've also been asked to help teach a class at church showing the Food Storage Made Easy website and what I have done with food storage to help others realize that they can do Food Storage too!

Remember, we can all do it one baby step at a time!

Want to see what I've been doing?

I know it's been a while since I've posted on this blog, but I've been busy. Not scrapbooking - oh no, did I just say that? As much as I love scrapbooking, I decided it was time to work on something that is also important to my family. That is FOOD STORAGE! Don't get me wrong, I haven't quit scrapbooking completely. I have done a few layouts, bought a few kits and I still check for freebies each day, but I have been spending the most part of my free time working on food storage. Once, I get my storage to a point that I am comfortable, then I'll be back scrappin like usual.

Check out what I've done:

It all started when I learned how to make bread. The wonderful ladies at Pantry Secrets came up to Layton and taught a class at my church, and I haven't bought any bread since. That was back in February. If you want to make delicious bread fast go check out their site. You can do so much more than bread with this recipe. My family loves the stuffed crust pizza, breadsticks, and braids. Here's what my bread looks like. I forgot to take a photo before I sliced and bagged it.

After the bread class, I went right out and bought six 25 pound bags of bread flour and started making bread, braids, pizza, etc. It's so easy and saves my family a ton of money because I'm not going to the store as often. Plus, it tastes better and is healthier.

Then, the case lot sales started and I decided it was time to work on food storage. I wanted to get my 3-month supply of things we eat everyday, but didn't know where to start. Then, I found this wonderful site - Food Storage Made Easy. You have to go check out their site. These two ladies make food storage so easy and doable. I have downloaded their spreadsheets for figuring out my 3-month supply and year-supply of food. I have also signed up for their baby-step checklists that come out every two weeks.

I'm loving that my family will have the things we need when an emergency arises. Really the site is so full of information, but it's in little bite size pieces so you won't get overwhelmed. Loooove it!

Well, after I figured out how much everyday food my family needed for 3 months, I hit the case lot sales and got some food that I felt was a good price. Then, I had to figure out how to store all of it. So here's what I did in my pantry. Sorry I didn't take before photos, I didn't think about it until it was too late.
I went out and bought some cansolidators. I love how organized they look in my pantry.
Here's the rest of the pantry. I want to get some more organizers for the rest of the things, but that has to wait until I save up for them.

I didn't want it all in my pantry. I wanted to store most of it downstairs where it's cooler, so I went out and bought some gorrilla shelves from Sam's Club. I combined two of them to make 1 short and 1 tall shelf in the spare bedroom - aka food storage room. :) The reason I combined them is because I wanted to have the shelves closer together so the cans would fit better with less wasted space. Here's what they look like.

You can see that I still have room for more food. I will be getting it as things go on sale, and I find good deals. I know that it's still a work in progress, but it makes me feel so good when I look at my shelves of food and know that my family is getting prepared like the prophets have told us to do. Check back later for more exciting food storage info.

Hello everyone,

Suzanne Blair of Purple Tulip Designs has been busy designing again and has released a beautiful Simplicity Kit..

This new kit inspired me to make up some freebie quickpages for you all to have a little taste of it. The quickpages are available in 3 sizes: 12x12, 8.5x11 portrait, and 8.5x11 landscape! The quick pages are a little different than your normal quick pages. They include layered photo boxes for you to put your pictures in just like you would with a template. It makes it so much easier - no more deleting the part of your pictures that overlap into the wrong holes!

Enjoy!

I'm doing the From Our Blog to Yours that Sweet Shoppe Designs does each week. This week they had us do a snow test.

Here are my results.

Your Snow Test Says You're Independent

You feel like something good will happen to you in the next few months.

You have an amazingly strong work ethic. You are likely to be very successful in life.

You are an independent, individualistic person. You thrive when you're doing your own thing.

Your biggest worry in life is your family. You stay up at night thinking about them.

When it comes time to relax, you really indulge. You are all about your favorite comforts.

New Year Resolutions

I usually don't do resolutions for the new year, because I tend to not do them, but this year I'm going to change. Also, I want to get points from the Sweet Shoppe. :)

Here's what I'm going to do this year:

1. Be a better wife and mom. Even though, they all think I'm the best mom (wife) in the world ;) I know I could do better.

2. Get more organized for both my house and digital stuff.

3. Scrapbook more. I know my hubby would say that I scrapbook enough, but I want to actually scrapbook more. Not just surf the net, collect digi freebies and chat.

Well, I think that 3 is enough for me. I don't want to start out too big and give up again this year.

Happy New Year!
